Targeted groups
In addition to the youth clubs and activities that we advertise publicly, we run a number of more targeted sessions which are aimed towards supporting the particular needs of young people who we get to know through our detached youth work and open-access youth groups.
We support young people in a variety of different situations, such as those struggling with their mental health, facing homelessness, not engaging with education, at risk of anti-social or criminal behaviour or where there are relationship breakdowns.
Sometimes we are able to offer 1:1 sessions with young people to support them through these challenges; at other times we will run groups that are shaped around the needs that we are seeing.
The targeted work that we run varies throughout the year depending on the needs of young people, as it is co-created along with the young people, but often will involve activities such as boxing, music or baking.
We don't generally accept referrals to this work, as it is generated through the relationships that our team builds with young people across the rest of the programme. However, we are happy to have a conversation with a young person, parent or professional about someone who is struggling, in order to see whether any of our sessions may be suitable for them to join.
