We have a wonderful team of volunteers who get involved across all of our work, from helping with youth clubs to joining in with detached youth work to running sports and music sessions. Many of the volunteers haven't had much experience of working with young people prior to getting involved, but they all have a desire to offer support and encouragement to the young people with whom they engage. Use our contact form to get in touch if you are interested in volunteering or have any questions.
Through Romsey Mill, we are also able to offer the opportunity to work toward an accredited Level 2 or Level 3 course in Youth Work Practice at a subsidised cost, and we are delighted that almost half of our Cambourne volunteers are now accredited at Level 2. You can find out more details about the courses on the Romsey Mill website here.
"I love the sense of fun, and also enjoy the sense of responsibility. Young people need to feel secure in the knowledge that you're there for them. It's a chance to test out boundaries for them, and it feels like a natural, organic interaction. It can take a while to build the relationships, but as they are learning, what they are learning they know they can trust.”
